低管電圧CT撮影は以前からある撮影法だが、撮影線量に起因するノイズが問題となり広く使われていなかった。近年、画像のノイズを低減する逐次近似応用再構成法により、この問題が解決し低管電圧CT撮影が行われるようになった。低管電圧CT撮影は、造影効果の増強、線量によるノイズの変化、体内金属やビームハードニングによるアーチファクトの増加など、CT画像の特性が強調される撮影法である。実際の臨床では、造影剤を通常使用量使えない場合に有用性が高い撮影法である。

Recently, it was used as iterative reconstruction was developed for image noise reduction. This method with low tube voltage X-ray CT was emphasized of the characteristics of CT image increased of enhancement of contrast medium, image noise, beam hardening and image artifacts. Low tube voltage X-ray CT method was useful when contrast medium cannot be used normally.
